Mireille Delunsch, with her experience in her career as a lyrical artist and while continuing (with the Cedelle Artistic Agency) also turns towards directing (Dialogues of the Carmelites in Bordeaux and Nantes, received with much critical acclaim).
Born in Alsace, Mireille Delunsch began her life as a musician on the piano. Graduated in musicology, she made her debut as a lyric soprano at the University of Paris. the Rhine Opera in Boris Godunov. She performs in a wide repertoire ranging from Monterverdi to; Varese, passing through the Folie in Platée by Rameau, the great Mozartian roles (Pamina, Dona Elvira, Fiordiligi, Vitellia, La Comtesse), Italian opera with La Boheme, La Traviata or a masked ball; by Verdi, French opera with Armide and Iphigénie en Tauride by Gluck (recorded with Marc Minkowski), Carmen, Pelleas and Mélisande (recorded with Jean Claude Casadessus), Le Roi d’Ys by Lalo ou le Pays de Ropartz (recorded with Jean-Yves Ossonce), the opera German with the Agathe from Weber's Freischütz or the Elsa from Wagner's Lohengrin, finally the opera Russian with Tatiana from Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, or Britten's masterpiece, The turn of the screw, the cleopatra of Handel's Giulio Cesare.
Invited since 1998 to the Aix en Provence Festival, she performed there in the Coronation by Poppea directed by Klaus Michael Grüber, Don Giovanni (Peter Brook), The Turn of the Screw (Luc Bondy), La Traviata (Peter Mussbach), in the Rhinegold directed by by Sir Simon Rattle, and most recently in Mozart's Idomeneo conducted by by Marc Minkowski and directed by Olivier Py.
We could also hear her in the four female roles in The Tales of Hoffmann à Gérard. Lausanne and Lyon, Mélisande at La Scala in Milan and at Manaus Opera, Theodora by Handel (staged by Peter Sellars) Strasbourg, Don Giovanni directed by Michael Haneke and the title role of Louise, in Elsa from Wagner's Lohengrin the Paris Opera and in Arabella at the Paris Opera and in Arabella at the Paris Opera and in Arabella at the Paris Opera. the Royal Opera of Walonia.
She has just made her directorial debut with The Death of Cleopatra and The Human Voice (of which she was also the interpreter) at at the Bordeaux Opera, a work which she also sang. à Sao Paulo. Its most recent incarnations have been : Lady Sarashina by Peter Eötvös in creation à Lyon, Antigone (La Lumière Antigone by Pierre Bartholomée) being created in Paris. the Brussels Mint, The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian in Lucerne (direction M. Janowski), Iphigénie (Iphigénie en Tauride) directed by S. Warlikowski, Elettra in Mozart's Idomeneo at Aix-en-Provence staged by Olivier PY, and the role of Queen Marguerite in Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy by Philippe Boesmans à; the Paris Opera and at Vienna, directed by Luc Bondy.
She has an extensive repertoire also in French melody (recordings, among others, of the complete melodies of Louis Vierne and Duparc) and Lied; we could hear it frequently in works by Clara and Robert Schumann, Wagner, Mahler, but also Korngold, Rachmaninov or Bernstein.
She has to heart to preserve the repertoire of French melody but also to discover constantly creating unknown or forgotten works.
